Roses

I think I've painted about 30 roses in the last few days. It was our lesson last week. They are finally starting to look like roses.

Students' and Teachers' Exhibit at the Workhouse Arts Center

I was proud to display one of my Chinese Brush Art paintings at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton along with some painting from my excellent teacher Hsi-Mei Yates, as well as other students and teachers.  Hsi-Mei has been wonderful about encouraging me.

The Workhouse Arts Center is a wonderful venue for artists of all kinds.  Their website describes it as:
"AN INNOVATIVE COLLABORATION OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS AND EDUCATION IN THE UNIQUE HISTORIC SETTING OF THE FORMER DC PRISON."
You can get to Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, in Occoquan, VA in less than 30 minutes from DC.

Late night practice

Some nights sleep escapes me.  I can't rest.  So, when I can't sleep, I practice a little bit.  This is from one of my late night practice sessions this weekend.  Every brush stroke counts toward the 10,000 strokes that I am working on.

Conversation

I painted these birds while "Up North"
at my brothers cottage. It was so beautiful floating on the lake.

Back in the studio

After a wonderful vacation in Wisconsin visiting family and friends, I am back in the studio.  I wiped off the cobwebs from my brushes and moistened my paints.  I am a little rusty but back in the stroke of things.  Be patient, there are many more works of love coming.
