A fun 3 days of Chinese Brush Art class with these ladies

These ladies and I spent three wonderful days with Virginia Lloyd-Davies as our instructor.  We had lots of fun and learned a lot. I learn something new every day.  Each instructor I've had has helped me improve as an artist.  Thank you Virginia!

Born in Washington, DC of British diplomatic parents, Virginia Lloyd-Davies and her husband Dennis DiVito moved from Scotland to Rockbridge County, VA in 1986. A Chinese brush artist since 1976, she has paintings in private collections in the U.S, China, Britain, Europe, Japan and Kenya. Her teacher was Chinese Master Painter I-Hsiung Ju, with whom she traveled regularly to China & Taiwan. Virginia has been a U.S. citizen since 2002.

You can find her website HERE.

Thank you visitors

We had a wonderful reception at Green Spring Gardens Park in Alexandria yesterday.  About 200 people attended and it was a pleasure to speak with so many people who enjoy art.  It was particularly nice to see friends from the neighborhood - thank you Rob, Francine and Jaci Cannon; Pam and Kate; Ray and Lana; and friends in the area from Seattle - Alison and Joe.

Our NCAC Sumi-e group is a talented group of artists and our work will remain on display through April 26, 2015.

Please stop by and see some us.

I think I've painted about 30 roses in the last few days. It was our lesson last week. They are finally starting to look like roses.

Sun Flower

When it's cold outside I paint warm sunny flowers.

Tried to capture a misty damp morning, with hungry birds. This painting will be in the Green Spring Garden Show opening on February 24 2015.

Working on birds and Irises are my one of my favorite flowers. My Grandmothers house in Wisconsin had several beds of them.
